about

Here's an EP of layered and stretched droning noises with the abstract theme of national identity.

I don't understand nationalism or national identity, and I distrust those who place undue value on those things. The lines on the map have been redrawn so many times, the names and the flags and the people of a nation evolve. Most nations are built on tyranny, slavery, exploitation and violence. Tear your filthy blood-stained flags from their poles and burn them.

This EP is the first in the "Land" series, compiled from unreleased material largely generated during February Album Writing Months 2011-2014.

And yes, this is an EP, even though it's 41 minutes long. That's what I call "value".

Albany was a Gaelic name for Scotland, derived from the Latin name for Britain, Albion.

Kanata is the Saint-Lawrence Iroquoian word for settlement, which was likely misappropriated by the European settlers of what is now called Canada.

Aotearoa is the Māori name of New Zealand, often translated as "land of the long white cloud".
