Silken Web Suspensions was the direct result of my stumbling across graphical scores. I mapped out each of these pieces structurally during a holiday to Ireland in May 2005. When I returned to Scotland, I spent some time over the Summer assembling pieces of music that vaguely matched my sketchy diagrams.

I have continued to use this compositional method ever since.

This album draws on a number of disparate ideas and experiences. As an example, A Field of Lights refers to flying into Edinburgh Airport in May 2005 at sunset, and while the plane was still in daylight, seeing below us the lights of houses now in darkness. Does the track adequately express that? Probably not, but that's what I drew on while I worked on it.

Musically, it's in the area of ambient and noise, still hampered by my musical limitations, and by my use of MIDI programming to realise most of the instruments. Still, I think there's some interesting ideas here.
